VAUXHALL CAR PARTS : If someone don't believe that Vauxhall engines are good, then betterremember this little story, that's why I told it. ;-)(BTW in our clubs internet site (Gallery.site) are pictures about tharvery vehicle)In these turbo Ventora all suspension and axles etc. are modified. Therewere used lot of parts which were taken from Chevrolet Corvette. If useoriginal suspension can't never drive so fast... Think about it, carwith same suspension than Viva... anyone can't drive safe almost 190Mph.FE Victor and almost all FD Victor too... original suspension was sameas HB/HC Viva.Are there in UK many cars with heavy duty rear axle (FE -> same asVX4/90 & Ventora)?Seems that almost all FE Victor's which were imported in Finland werewith heavy duty suspension & rear axle (option code 357). It is veryhard to find FE Victor were is standard suspension here in Finland. Idon't know why, maybe because of hard winter time?!
VAUXHALL CAR PARTS : I have a 95 calibra with Central locking and FF alarm. The alarm isarmed mechanically off the drivers door lockswhen the doors are deadlocked (ie key turned through 90 degrees)I want to fit Remote central locking (ie operated off a key fob), anyonedone this or know if its possible?From what I've heard so far, the problem is most remote central lockingdevices arm the alarm electronically.The auto spark in my work has done this the other day to a Mitsubishi , hehad to fit a diode into the cars wiring to stop the factory fit alarm armingwhen the central locking is activated .You can obatin a vauxhall remote control kit to upgrade the factory fittedsystem. This kit operates the central locking by remote, as well asactivating the alarm. The system still works as per normal from the driversdoor as well. From what I remember, the kit is approx. £60. Fitment iswithin the realms of the DIY'er, just ensure that the instructions arefollowed EXACTLY! All the wires are tagged up with the location and colourof the vehicle wiring that has to be tapped into.
VAUXHALL CAR PARTS : Is that £60 from your friendly Vauxhall dealer? Sounds cheap to me....Basically, I got the "bums rush" from my local Vauxhall dealer who werebasically crap and not helpfull at all. To give you an example, theysaid "we can't help you, but phone this number....." I did, and thenumber was for a company who sold nothing but car stereos!!!!I tried another vauxhall dealer , and the bloke from their sparesdepartment bent of backwards to help. Apparently the central locking kitisn't listed anymore, so he spoke to one of his L'ectricians and wentback through archives to find the part number, which he did (and madesure it was compatible with my car) checked his stock...and had oneleft.cost....£69 +VAT...which is cheaper than I thought by miles (not forwrong then Anthony!!)
VAUXHALL CAR PARTS : Just goes to show, not all main Vauxhall dealers are shite and justafter your money!....just most of them are!But if only they realised that if they were half-way helpful, perhapsJoe-public wouldn't mind spending their hard earned dosh there.Honestly, the help I got...I almost thought they were taking the piss,but they were stars!Dont suppose you've got the part number? I take it the same part would besuitable for a 1999 corsa with central locking/ deadlocks.... and a '92 Astra??? (pushing it a bit now).... it's got the alarm activatedby deadlocking the doors (90 degree turn of key) in the same the way theoriginal posters Calibra does...Just as an aside, and in relation to the recent threads on dealerservicing, main dealers are actually good places to get parts. I feelobliged to share this knowledge for the benefit of those who, like me foryears, don't even bother to check main dealer prices when getting partsquotes. Examples, for my BMW 316:
VAUXHALL CAR PARTS : Fuel tank, £95 (inc discount) all in from Euro Car parts, £100 (incdiscount) from BMW garage and they at least managed to get one in time!Special fine metric thread nuts for valve adjusters: 15p each from BMWAlternator bushes, £1.50 and £3.00 apiece respectivelyFanbelt £8.82Oil filter £7.99Rubber air intake boot £7ishAir cleaner rubber mounting £1.50Radiator mounts £1.88 apieceetc...Now the belt and filter are slightly more than you might pay at a cheapmotor store, but the peace of mind from buying a genuine filter is worth aquid or so and the belt will probably last. Plus they deliver FOC which isa godsend for those like me who start things they can't finish! :-) Andhey, I'm sentimental and get a warm rosy glow from the thought of giving mycar the best.
