UK CAR SPARES : Austin Marina? That's right. Austin Marina. Some of you may, at thispoint be thouroughly confused. Let me clarify: The Austin Marina was a carput out by British Leyland from 72-75. It consisted if a simple sedan framewith either an 1800 or 1300 cc engine. It was basically a conglomerate of manyof the cars that B.L. built. Well, needless to say, I ended up owning one of these things, and thesupport for this car here in the states is phenominaly low. I may decide tostart rebuilding parts or the whole of the car this year. And, well, I needas much help as I can get. Anyone out there who has any information on how Ican get parts, or comments on the intricacies of these cars, or just wants to speek up and say "I own an Austin Marina", please mail me.

This has to be the worstcar ever offered to the U.K. public by the British Leyland conglomerate.
UK CAR SPARES : My advice to any U.S. Marina owners is to junk them when they stop running. The value of even the best will never justify the expense and hassle of getting spares. If you want to run a U.K. car in the states then go for aspitfire 1500 MGB or midget. If it has to be a saloon (sorry sedan) try a Rover P6 of some sort. Only a very few were sold in the states but they have a good home following with good club and spares support. Any U.S. readerswanting spares info would be advised to try and get Exchange and Mart or Practical Classics magazines for any old U.K car. If any U.S. netters have trouble with U.K. motoring advice I would behappy to corespond but via snail 'cos I'm soon to loose my usenet access :-(Me ... I was desperate to clear out my garage so this isjust what I needed!It's sort of like across between e-bay and your local free-ads paper,but far more specialised. If your in the motor breaker business thenthese guys could really help you out!Apparently they're launching an auction for Cars too, so it's wellworth a look.Got a good price for my old Rover V8 Engine and Gearbox anyway. I mean how frustrating is it when your looking for aparticular part, like for instance a bonnet the same color as yourcar. You know that someone somewhere's got one, but the chances offinding them are slimmer than the panel gaps on a Lexus. It's so mucheasier online!
