TOYOTA CAR PART : AQdmittedly a bit off of our focus, but I'm embarassed to say that thisthing beat me... Picked up a Toyota car radio that I thought would make upa dandy "under-the counter" shop radio, and I can't figure out the wiring !Unit says "TOYOTA PLL Synthesized AM FM Receiver 5426" on front, and ModelNo. 86120-32210 Ref No. CR-YS861A on the sticker.Somebody point me to 12 V, Speaker terminals before I blow this thing?I'll bet there's a web site on this very topic somewhere, but I've not foundone thus far.In article , says...You could contact a Toyota dealer but it's not likely that he can help you. What you can do is ask to look at their section of the applicable electrical section of the Toyota Shop Manual. Therein you will find the wiring diagram and pinouts for your radio and speakers. I did what you are trying to do and it worked for me.
TOYOTA CAR PART : there are two possibilities:1. you have a complete radio, or 2. you have half a radio, and the otherhalf is missing. Some cars, to save dash space, now use a separate controlhead. Let's assume that you have case 1:every car radio I am aware of will be somewhat similar to the following:1. the case is ground. There may be a wire (typically but not always black)connected to the case to provide ground if the dash is plastic.2. a power in wire - this will go to the on/off switch - often RED3. an "always on" power wire for the memory circuites (newer radios only)and to eject a tape or whatever if you turn the thing off. for yourpurposes you can wire this to the main power wire. often Yellow4. one to eight speaker output wires. a mono radio with a single endedoutput will have one wire, the other end of the speaker goes to ground(typical of many older AM radios). A stereo single ended radio will havetwo wires (or 4). if 4, two of them will be grounded. A push pull output(wihtout trahsformer) will have 2/4 wires (mono/stereo) with none grounded(but you willbe able to trace them to some amplifier circuit typically inthe back part of the radio). some radios have a front/rear fader, typicallya low ohm resistor pair, if so, you may have front and back outputs, = justpick the front ones. TOYOTA CAR PART : Does anyone know how long Toyota would be responsible for making part forone of their vehicles that is out of production? Example T100 or Tercel. Is there a specific # of years or just until the parts run out?Unless things have changed the FTC requires ten year partsavailability.I think law says 10 years, but if the parts are selling, they will makethem long after that, they are in the parts buisness too.-- I believe a self-righteous liberal with a cause is more dangerous than aHell's Angel with an attitude.I don't use the excuse "it's for the children" as a shield for unpopularopinions or actions.I want to know exactly which church is it where the "Reverend" JessieJackson preaches; and, what exactly is his job function.I think Bill Gates has every right to keep every penny he made andcontinue to make more. If it makes you mad, then invent the nextoperating system that's better and put your name on the building. This could be anywhere from one to ten yearsor more if the particular part is still in use on a model. After that part goes out of production, if then goes into "service"for one, two or three years, at a volume typically 10% of what theproduction level was. After that, whatever's in the warehouses is all there's left. However, the tooling is kept. If Toyota, Ford, etc gets a lot of orders for aspecific part, Toyota, etc will commission the OEM supplier to produce500 or 1000 or so of them to replenish warehouse stocks and to satisfycurrent orders, which is one reason you may have to wait a long timefor your part. TOYOTA CAR PART : This new-stock on-demand production can continue indefinitely ifdemand exists. If the car is relatively new (less than ten years), demand for thepart is low and no parts exist in the warehouses but tooling exists, your new part may be hand-built from stock kept at the OEM supplier. They have special departments for this hand-building.Because of all of the above, it is possible to order a part for yourten-year old Toyota and end up with a brand-new part, made weeksbefore. There is **NO** law that says automakers on either side of the borderhave to continue to supply parts for *any* production orout-of-production vehicle.(I found no info on the FTC site that indicates any time line requirementsfor spare part production.)I've heard (from what I consider to be) a generally reliable source that the"f word" company stops parts availability after seven (7) years. (I've beentold that they "recycle" the dies, tooling, casting molds etc. T? / F? )
