STREET RACING CAR PARTS : Some are not immigrants. A few are born in Canada Canadians who figure theyhave to prove themselves, or impress their girlfriend (one was in thatBeemer) with sloppy driving, excessive speed and driving these toy cars. His speed was estimated to be 135 km/h (80 MPH) when he decided to visit thelibrary. They really need to get a life. One hopes that the sod gets good jail time, and his future is financiallyruined. One hopes to that he doesn't drive again, ever, but he'll probably have a fast talking lawyer who figures there has to becompassion for this 17 year punk. This guy will beback on the road. bet on it. He won't get a lifetime prohibition of drivingas that's considered too severe. Then again it says something about the intelligence of the girl if she'simpressed by nothing more than a guy like that drivingDaddy's BMW as if the driver was in the lead position at LeMans. Probablythe same type of girl that is more impressed bymuscle on the arms than muscle between the ears.
STREET RACING CAR PARTS : Excessive speed and driving along as if you're in the Indy is simply sloppydriving. Doesn't impress anyone, and one thing about these speed contests, there's always someone else who has a more powerful car.Drive sensible and keep to the speed limit. Leave a few minutes early andyou'll get there. I'd rather be called [whatever] and be safe and enjoy thedrive within the speed limit and perhaps be a few minutes late thanexcessively speed and be called "the late.."Scariest thing iv'e ever seen, one asian teaching another one how to drive. In Edmonton every driving school is owned by them. A. Duguay wrote in message ... Scariest thing iv'e ever seen, one asian teaching another one how to drive.I had to get in on this one, the ever decreasing number of legit racersdue to the weak canadian dollar(99% of all speed parts are from theU.S), the cost of race gasoline, the decrease in disposable incomeleading to the average auto enthusiast not being able to by expensivesaftey equipment for his or her car that is required by drag strips, theamount of legit racers is on the decline, as the decline continues, therace tracks are cutting back on the tracktime allowed to therecreational racer to give way to the larger corporate sponsored eventsthat the ractracks can make more money off of in order to survive, allof this is contributing to street racing, which is not a new sport, itsbeen around since the auto was invented, was highly prolific in detroitin the 60's, for those who do not know, look up "woodward avenue" andJimmy Addisson on the internet, American Graffiti was not based on purefantasy, whats making it more dangerous now is the population density, and the fact that with the advancements in technology, more cars aremaking serious horsepower than in earlier times, not everyone in theearly days of street racing had a 13 second or better quartermile car, these days, its getting to be commonplace with turbo's and efi being soeasy but not cheap to biuld . The fact that there are more cars outthere with high horsepower will eventually lead to more races, with theexpense of parts from the U.S. the street racers are starting to cutcorners to get the fastest car, but not the safest. One tends to pourall their money into the go part of the car and not the stop part of thecar, the suspension usually ends up with cutdown coil springs instead ofreal aftermarket lowering springs, cut down springs greatly affectsuspension movement and usually totally screws the camber fo the wheelsresulting in a poor handling car. Brakes are super expensive to modify, its usually the last thing done. The thing I have noticed the most inthe street racing scene is that more and more kids with import carsgetting into the fray, the blow all their money on a new honda, buy sometrick speed parts and have something to prove, when the lose anaccelaration race, the keep going to try and pass you on top end to tryand prove how fast they are even though the race is over and usually endup blowing through a red light at 100 mph plus. While I can never try tolegitimize illegal racing, its part of the hot rod world, late nightchallenges that pose man and machine together in a fight to justifybrand loyalty, what is happening though through a decrease insportsmanship the race is not finished like it was in earlier times, theloser always has something to prove and thats what causes the crashes. In my early days as a midnight hot rodder, an empty road was found inthe middle of nowhere, the 1/4 mile was marked out and people raced thatdistance and that was it, and that was not that long ago(1993). In myrecent forays into the scene, guys and gals just can't admit the defeatin the standard 1/4 mile, they keep on the gas even when the race isdone, another thing I have noticed, is that while in my earlier times itwas a predomiminantly white male event, its not that way anymore, thereis a large contingent of various ethnic groups all participating, andwith this the violence at such events has increased, in days gone by ,even after losing a race, won guy would talk to the other guy about his STREET RACING CAR PARTS : Karen, you poor pathetic soul. You're name sounds like a good English lassie. Howlucky you are to be a representative of the only "perfect" race on Earth. If onlywe could all be from your culture, we would live in a perfect, peaceful world. Wewould all get along as brothers and sisters. Actually probably only as sistersbecause I'm sure that if wasn't the immigrants causing problems then it would be themen. Or maybe the cats and dogs, or the bees, or the ....Maybe you should pay attention to the Hell's Angels in Quebec. I didn't see any"immigrants" involved in the slaying that took place last week, or the one beforethat, or the one before that. Of course, you probably think the Quebecois are justas bad as the immigrants don't you? You are a miserable woman and an embarrassmentto Canada. STREET RACING CAR PARTS : Obviously Karen is frequenting the lads from the" Land Down Under". InOz they call all Italians, Greeks, Turks, French, Polish, etc "Wogs"Now all you Wogs can see why the Welsh can't stand the Anglo Saxons. On Tue, 20 Feb 2001 01:48:01 GMT, "Alan Craigie" wrote:When I was in the military we used "wog" to refer to anyone not in thefighting trades eg. a cook, a clerk, etc. wog = without guts. In thiscontext it was certainly meant to be derogatory. So, instead of beingguilty of racism would we have been guilty of "careerism"? And tothink I might have made the mistake of calling some darker skinnedclerk a wog and him go off thinking I was refering to his skin colourwhen, in fact, I would have been calling him a coward. Sheesh, what awasted insult that would have been. ;-) STREET RACING CAR PARTS : Some of you probably have heard me bitch about this road near my housewhere everyone drives like a maniac. It's a four lane street througha residential area and the speed limit is 30, but people routinely do70. Every morning I need to turn onto this road and every night Imust stop and make a left hand turn across traffic to get home.People drive WAY too fast and crazy on that road. One of these daysI'm gonna get hit, mark my words. I've had enough close callsalready. The other day, while merging onto this road, I noticed alarge section of fence missing on the side of the road and a bunch ofballoons, cards, and ribbons affixed to the remaining parts of fence. After coming home that night, I took a walk over there to see whathappened. It turns out on this same road, at 3:00 am on July 4 th,some young 19 year old kids were supposedly road racing, and possiblyeven drunk. The road itself is in extremely bad condition and it'svery rough with many potholes. Apparently one of the drivers lostcontrol. He flew off the road, taking out a sixty foot section ofchain link fence, became airborne, flew another sixty feet in the air, bounced off of a 200 year old oak tree taking out a 5x4 foot sectionof bark 15 feet up, continued to fly another 70 feet into a ditch, then actually flew back UP the other side of the ditch, took out agigantic railroad-tie-sized wooden post, and finally stopped aftercrashing through a neighbors fence. Can you say "momentum"? Therewere absolutely no skid marks and it didn't look like the driver evenattempted to hit the brakes. It was a terrible sight. There werelots of people there paying their respects. I was informed by thesister of one of the passengers that there were three people in thecar at the time. The two front passengers were NOT wearing seat beltsand died, but the rear passenger survived. After examining the fencefor a while, I climbed down into the ditch to have a closer look atthe tree. There were car parts everywhere, but not enough wholepieces to determine the make and model. There were scars in the dirtwhere they dragged the wreck back up to be hauled off. It was strangestanding in a place where there was so much death. After I climbedout of the ditch, I noticed all the cars passing by still doing atleast 60. Those that were going slower were being honked at byimpatient road ragers. It just never ends.
