(big turbo)its obvious 20k cdn can do a lot more for a mustang where parts area dime a dozen, or camaro or any number of excellent americanproject cars.A QUICK STORY: A guy that used to street race in our area had sunk allhis money into the best spray kit he could afford, around 5 or 6thousand at the time (about 6 years ago) and then just bought junker5.0's that barley ran,... gutted the car completley and left everythingelse stock.. he'd install the spray, boost the fuel and run 12's on thestreet all night long taking people and they're money for a niceride!... I used to love it... stock tires... balls to the wall.....never got traction the whole quarter! :) LOL! anyways... the spray was aone time investment, and the cars would last him a summer runnin peoplefor $$$ then he'd scrap it and buy another! STREET CAR PARTS : if your ultimate goal is to have a quick quarter mile timeslip, then I'mall sure your tired of hearing the phrase theirs no replacement fordisplacement, and when the import manufacturers idea of a big block is a3.0L V-6 then you definatley want to run american... but.. I've foundthat if your challenge is to make a specific car faster whether yourshooting for single digits, 12's or even 15's..... its just as fun towork on imports... in fact... it's seems to be a lot more fun than I hasever thought!.... if fun is somehow related to challenge, you have toadmit.... It's a lot more of a challenge to get a civic running 12's or11's or even 10's than it is an american bad boy!....either way... keyword fun! everybody has it in our club and that's whatsimportant! Yes... there are some members who are more into show thango,... and stick on go fast is not my cup of tea, but you must remainopen minded,... and come on guys/gals... to each his/her own! oneperson's garbage is another gold!.. STREET CAR PARTS : After browsing through a couple of posts pretty deep into the 03 Cobrawheelhop thread, I felt myself getting frustrated. I feel this frustrationevery time someone asks "how to launch my X on stock tires", or "it shouldbe quicker if I can get it to hook", etc...Why do you bother to drag race on stock tires unless you're in somethingthat runs 15's or slower that can break traction on an ice rink?This makes absolutely no sense. It's gotten to the point where you don'thave to run slicks anymore. Hoosier makes the Quick Time Pros which areessentially slicks. I race with guys running 10's on nitrous (from thelaunch) that hook great with them - and there are many much faster. I'mrunning some that are only 8 inches wide on my car without problems at all.Mickey Thompson has the ET Street which is their version of the same.They're DOT, so you can run them at the "Street Legal" nights, and drivehome on them in a pinch. STREET CAR PARTS : There are drag radials, although results are mixed for different people.I've seen magazine articles where people are going 10's or quicker with themthough. But they've got the car designed around them - using timing retardsat launch, different suspension setups, etc... But the only reason they'rerunning them is because they must for their class.The basic benefit of the Drag Radials (don't forget about the Nitto 555R's)is that you can drive on them without the shimmy you get from a bias ply DOTtire. But, they can take a little more time to learn to launch on them.I know many of us are too lazy to swap tires at the track - can't waste that15 minutes.A car like the 03 cobra is putting out monster torque and hp numbers at lowrpm... it's like an old big block. It's incredible how much better you canget at racing if you don't have to concentrate on anything other than thelast amber at the light!
