At the finish line, the margin of victory was a mere forty-nine thousandths of a second."This is a huge win for us," Weney proclaimed. "Von had gotten me in the two previous finals and we wanted him this time. It was a great race and we gained a round on him in the championship points. We're going to Epping to continue our consistency and just let everyone try and outrun us."Weney began the weekend winning Best Appearing Pro Car and qualifying second with a stout 5.92/237 in his Corvette bodied flopper. He put away PaulAthey in round one with a 5.939/236.34, then Chris Hunt in round two with a 5.952/234.33. In a rematch of the Winter Nationals final, Weney met championship contender Jimmy Rector in the semi-finals and put away the Alabaman with a 5.891/237.63. In the final Weney continued his consistency of not beating himself with a 5.899 elapsed time, finishing eliminations with an average winning e.t. of 5.920 and reaction time of .480.

"We began with the Hemi engine one year ago. Now we'veadded the new Pro Stock Dodge Neon R/T. We are replacing our aged R/Tbodies with something new. "We made a lot of changes form the originalmold and plug, and it came out pretty well."The frontal area on the Pro Stock Dodge Neon R/T is much smaller thanthe frontal area of the car it replaces," explained DeKoninck. "It'salso a lot slicker and has a great deal more down force, in fact, inthis car, we've been able to get a great deal of rear down force withoutcompromising on the spoiler. It has much less drag and I think it willbe one fast race car. The Pro Stock Dodge Neon R/T also will be easierto drive. With a bit longer and sleeker lines, it will have much morestability." PRO CAR PARTS : Chris Fontaine put the Discount Auto Parts/Suntrust #46 NASCAR All Pro MonteCarlo on the starting grid in the 31st position for last Saturday's DiscountAuto Parts 200 at his home track, Lakeland's USA Speedway. It was his firstcareer start in a NASCAR All Pro event.Chris was credited with a 26th place finish for the event, having completed121 laps before being forced to retire for the evening with steeringproblems after getting in an accident on lap 71. The finish moves him up 4spots in the 2001 NASCAR All Pro points race to 33rd.The CJF Racing Team had worked long hours to prepare the car for the race,and had just finished installing the new Volunteer Performance built enginein the car at midnight the night before the race. Robbie White of VolunteerPerformance of Tennessee was on hand to help out during the race, as wasDerrick Kelly, Discount Auto Parts' Hooter's Cup Driver and his crewchiefJack Gagnon. The car breezed through tech without a hitch, and Chris wasfourth in line to make his qualifying run. He turned a 21.881 on his secondlap, good enough for 31st and only .653 from the pole in a very close fieldwith less than a second separating 37 cars.
