PREFORMANCE CAR PARTS : I know someone who had major engine problems with a new Camry (88 vintage Ibelieve). The dealer had to do a major engine rebuild which also went teminal,and then they put in a new short block. The funny thing was the guy bought itbecause it was supposed to be so trouble free. I know this is an exceptionfor Toyota; but I would have thought that Toyota would have just given him anew car instead of keep fixing it and then they could of shipped the screwed up car back to Toyota and let them study it try to find out why this particularcar was so screwed up (possibly leading to design or production improvements,I don't think Toyota gets that many opportunities to study catastrophic failureof their cars).Yeah I saw that letter in Car & Driver. In the period from GM's announcementof the Saturn to actual production, Honda announced and introduced the Acuraline, Toyota announced and introduced the Lexus line and Nissan announcedand introduced the Infinity line. Sad.
PREFORMANCE CAR PARTS : And all those people staring at your add-on car are probably wondering why you didn't just buy a better car to begin with.The Corvette was designed to be a high-preformance car, with a modified Civicyou go beyond the limit of it's intended design. You will in effect shorten it's life by placing greater stress on components than was intended.Even with engine mods on the Civic, the Corvette will be quicker and faster.The Corvette needs dem big tires, how else are you going to .91g in a 3,500lbcar. On a racetrack, the modified Civic wouldn't stand a chance against the Corvette. The Corvette will out accelerate and out-brake the Civic (I didn'tsee you mention any brake modifications, I don't think the Civic's brakescould take the heat for long). A modified Civic would/might have a chanceto beat a stock Corvette at an autocross.
PREFORMANCE CAR PARTS : There is one thing that you haven't touched on. Corvettes are SPECIAL.If you don't understand this, I don't think any amount of explainingwill convince you. I don't hear people say "When I was a kid, I reallywanted to own a modified Civic and after x years of working I've finallygotten one". People don't go to the big Honda Civic show in Bloomington,or Honda Civics at Carlise, or Honda Civic Home Comming in Marysville or ...Corvette enthusiast are more fanatical than the followers in any other car.Nobody cares if the valve covers in a Honda Civic are supposed to have asemi-gloss finish instead of a gloss finish, or if the throttle return springon a Civic is supposed to be blue, or if you can still find the factorychalk marks on the frame and suspension components. If you want to buyparts The Jackson Racing catalog isn't squat compared to Mid-America's orEckler's catalogs. Plus you will be able to get parts long after themodel goes out of production. With the Civic you'll have a hard timefinding parts after 10 years because there isn't much market for them.

I may pay extraforthe "right" story here!!2) Auto air conditioner stuff. Horror stories about new vehicles with thenew-type freon gas, or similar horror stories about older vehiclesconverted to, or expensive pressures to convert to, the new-type freongas.Have you given-up and are now without auto A/C, and are similarilypissed-off?3) Stories about the new reformulated gasoline. Sickness, high prices,vehicle problems/repair costs, etc. that are DIRECTLY attributable to thenew"oxygenated" gasolines.
