PART CAR : Early '70s AM/FM/FM-ST/8-Tracks had the power amplifiers mounted *above* the glove box (can't count the number I have seen at flea markets without the amplifier - usual answer when asked about the connector is "power antenna". AM/FM/FMST/CB. It was two piece, well actually three piece. There was the radio itself, the CB unit, and the antenna splitter that allowed the radio antenna to be used for the CB.
PART CAR : Dr. Joe and I went out this morning to look at a 1973 convertibleparts car that he had located in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill areaof NC. (Better know as the Research Triangle Area). The VW ismissing the engine as the owner used it in another VW. Other than theengine, the car appeared to be close to complete. In a small box, the less efficient sub willactually be LOUDER at low frequencies at the SAME POWER as the moreefficient sub.Linear excursion is a very good indicator of ultimate output capability(given sufficient power to drive the speaker to that point.) To makesound you must move air; therefore, the more air you move, the moresound you make. When comparing two speakers of equal surface area, theone with greater excursion capability will play louder given sufficientpower.
