MITSUBISHI CAR PARTS : The first few times I saw the Galant spot it made an impact on me to theextent that I made a point to try to see what the car looks like the nexttime it came on. The trouble with this particular spot is the same problemthat many car spots have... you can't get a good look at what the caractually looks like. I think the guys who shoot these spots are trying ouras many shaky cam angles and special effects as they can possibly cram intoa :30. Want to sell more cars.... just show more sheet metal! If the car isactually worth seeing, customers will find their way in to the dealerships. If it's not (like the new Infiniti G20) they won't.I have often wondered if there is a viable marketing reason for these type ofshots in car advertisments. I would be quite interested to hear therationalization for not actually showing the automobile.
MITSUBISHI CAR PARTS : I and another member of my family fell for one of these "awesome" Mitsubishiads of the mid eighties. Both of us bought a 2.1 liter Galant turbo diesel. The greatest pieces of shit to ever hit the autobahn! These cars were sopredictable in their substandardness. Both cars failed at similar mileagesfor identical reasons, and I'm talking cylinder heads, transmissions andcrankshafts here. Not to mention the defective heater valves that turned thecars into nice swedish steam saunas. Mitsubishi f*cked us over so bad, wecould not believe it. They tried to tell us that a cracked cylinder headcould happen because of the mileage (which was about 50000) or of the age(they really said that, I still have the letter!) of a car. What a completenonsense. They tried to weasel out of warranty work, saying those failureswere not related to bad workmanship or crappy materials. They blamed thedevastating performance of their crockpiles on our way of driving. They triedeverything to not fix the cars for free. When my transmission went bad and mynew cylinder head also cracked for the second time, they made me a"genereous" offer to fix my car for free, if agreed to purchase a newMitsubishi. Nice try, you heels. I finally traded the four year old Galantin at a Ford dealership for a two year old Fiesta, which is the Euro-versionof the Festiva, that had more miles on it than the Mitsubishi. I put 40000miles on this little Fiesta within two years, and it never left me on theroad dead. I have not driven a Mitsubishi ever since, and I vow that I willnever drive one again. My relative sold his car shortly after that, or shouldI say right after he replaced the crankshaft at 70000 miles. Therefore, nomatter how awesome their commercials are, be aware of the fact that it mightbe a candy wrapper around a turd. MITSUBISHI CAR PARTS : If you want to duplicate our experience with Crappo-bishi, go ahead. But don't complain nobody warned you ahead.I'm afraid it goes for Mitsubishi parts, too. My brother owns a 1989 YamahaFJ1200 motorcycle with 35 kmiles on the odometer. Recently his electric fuelpump failed, and the replacement part is way over $100. Now you guess whomanufactured the godforsaken pump. You already know it, pal...Get off of me with Mitsubishi. BTW, from experience I can assure you there areless troubled Japanese cars out there.[Mod: Ok, this thread has gone from advertising to consumer complaintto car parts. Let's keep it on-topic if to continue or let it die.]getting back to the marketing issue... Mitsubishi dealer in Dallas runs adson radio similar to monster truck ads. They are so obnoxious, I wasconsidering buying a Galant and went to Nissan instead. MITSUBISHI CAR PARTS : i'm planning on purchasing a Mitsubishi Montero. Just wondering if anybody knows if it's a good car. I also need to know: * gas mileage for street and highway * dependable car? * parts expensive? * personal experiences * interior (is it a good design) * information about the car's performance * it's performance relative to other 4x4 like pathfinder, jeep cherokee, ford bronco. * it's resale value, and a range that i should expect spend to purchase one. * how many miles should these cars last for. * which is the best model (like is there an LX model, etc) * is it easy to fix the car yourself for someone who knows about fixing cars, but not too much. * can you switch from 4WD to 2WD modes in this car. * is Mitsubishi reputable? Expecially this modelany response would be greatly appreciated. thnx MITSUBISHI CAR PARTS : Hi, for those of you following my timming belt crissis, hereis the follow up. On last friday, 12-10-93, the dealer called me and told methat my car was ready to be towed. I took a cab ($27) and went there.Bill, the manager, showed me the car and it is in terrible condition.12 out of 16 valves are bent and many parts need to be replaced. Justfor the parts alone, I will need at least $1050. I than called thePurrfect Auto Body and tell them to pick up the car. It was then thatI had an argument (again) with the manager. He told me that he willnot use Mitsubishi parts. He was gonna use cheap parts that is notMitsubishi. I did not want that, because my car has all mitsubishiparts before he changed the belt. And who knows what will happen ifthey put in cheap parts. He also wanted me to put all the partstogether. But what for? HE will have to take it apart anyway and thebent parts will not fit well thus furthur damaging the engine. I gotstock on that. So today, I called Legal Aid (wellfare legalassistance) and asked for advices. They said that since my car hadoriginally Mitsubishi parts so they should repalce it with mitsubishiparts. So I have following 2 ways to handle this case. Legal Aidtells me that I have a good chance of winning on both ways.
