HONDA CAR SPARES : The sooner the politicians accept this mistake the better for all Malaysians.Interesting thought. I would have thought that you were supporting aninefficient Malaysian industry. If the car & the expertise was good enough, it would sell & make foreigncurrency FOR Malaysia. Of course that's not much use at the moment is it ?The sooner you widen your scope & drop the paranoia directed to"foreigners", the better for all Malaysians & the world.Apparently you are from Singapore. Yes, in S'pore they are justified in doingwhat they are doing 'cos S'pore is an island state. If cars were to be madeaffordable to the average S'poreans driving can only mean hundreds of manhourslost for just being on the roads. When an American speaks out against subsidising the standard of living of someforeign worker somewhere in the world, he does not get accused of beingxenophobic.
HONDA CAR SPARES : Peugeot 406Now discounted to about 100-110k - Handling Handling Handling and a slick'intelligent' autoboxDoesn't need a V6.. The pugs have a square cylinder (bore = stroke) whichadds up to more torque.. Dont ask me how? look it up.Audi A4I heard that if you trade in and ask for discount it only adds up to 98K.Mercedes quality at Volkswagen PriceBMW 318A bit expensive but starts at 120K for no options not exactly my choice butsome people like themFord Testar V6/ProbeV6 s any bloody ford V6Americans know V engines and can make the most out of them (not like punysmall block V6's the japs make, can struggle to get up genting) Ford (M)has a few excess Probes/Scorpios/Telstar V6's in stockMad Piranha wrote:the 406 has some timing belt problems. it just does not last as long asajapanese car fan belt. you can search the net for documented cases.typicallife is 50k km vs 80k->100k km for japanese car. other than this bit of shame and expensive spares, low resale value, it is an excellent'drivers'type of car. handles well (like nothing else japanese comes close) andis really great for long trips. HONDA CAR SPARES : i myself own a 2nd hand perdana (non V6) and regret it. a honda accord (at current 2nd hand car prices) wld have been a much better choice butwhat to do, prices back in 1996 put the accord way beyond reach.right now even a 1994 accord is in generally better shape than my 1995 perdana. gripes ... body roll, noise, (part of Mitsubishi heritageperhaps?)expensive spares (MYR1600 per head lamp) really weak metal, (easilydented)crush zones (excuse for using cheap plastic), the usual proton creaksallover the place ...IMHO, get a good used 3-4 yr.car. best value for money at the moment.except for merz, most all makes have lost value. the perdana V6 wld also costmore tomaintain being more difficult to service due to size of engine in theengine compartment. also stand to loose lots of value when it comes time tochangeand trade up or down. even motoria wld not take in my perdana unless iboughtanother proton from them. HONDA CAR SPARES : The standard 'upgraded' radio in the 96 Honda Civic EX does not include a tape deck. No problem, since I was planning on replacing it with my Alpine Unit from my old car. I swapped out the factory unit and replaced it with my Alpine unit. No problem, sounded fine. Then I tried to use my keyfob door lock transmitter. It was dead. Huh?? The Honda designers, in a supposed attempt to thwart the aftermarket stereo industry, or for whatever reason, put the door lock receiver inside the standard radio. Swap it out and you can throw away your keyfob transmitter. Nice move. The only way around it that I can see is to stuff the old unit back in the dash someplace, or re-install it and buy the Honda add-on cassette deck. Fat chance. HONDA CAR SPARES : Does anyone know if Scosche et al are working on a patch for this?====c=a=r===a=u=d=i=o===i=s===n=o=t===f= o=r===t=h=e====m=e=e=k====Pioneer DEH-P705/P1200, Alpine 3553 & 3401, Polk MM6501, Vifa D26,Boston 767, MBQ QM250, Excalibur AL-900GTX, IASCA N:1-150, 222pts.turned every screw, measured every dimension, cut all 10 knuckles, designed entire system, tuned every component, loved every minute.Take a peek!: Jerry Kwit wrote:Why not install a better alarm system, c/w centeral locking. I mean if you think about it, car thives will know how to defeat a honda alarm in a few minutes, as they will be all installed in the same manner, but if you get a different alarm, and install it yourself, it will take them longer as they will not know much about your installation methods, etc.Tip : For you ignition kill go to a Honda spares dealer and pickup a couple of horn relays from a Honda. You can then use these to kill the ignition on a few important parts of the car (try on the + lead of the coil, installed under the bonnet, with the rest of the cars relays, then on the 'on' position of the ignition system) Also, run the same sort of wire which is used in the car's wiring. All of this is to make it as hard to identify which are parts of the alarm, and which are parts of the real car's wiring - Thus making it harder to steal the car in a hurry.
