CAR BODY PART : I think to buy a buddipole () for portableoperations with some of its accessories.About the installation of the dipole (2x 2.5m) itself on its tripod, Ihave the choice to place the tripod at ground level (0.5-3m high) or,alternative to place the tripod on top of my car or on the cap (it's agolf) from which I can erect it 0.5-3m high also (however under windyconditions I 'm sure it will stay in position without small magnetsfixed at the tripod base).Question : being metallic and highly conductive, is the car top or thecap a good place to install such short dipole or it should be betterto place it away from the car (which motor is switched off), in thegrass or on the macadam and as high as possible above ground tobenefit of a better radiation angle ? Car or field/grass/macadam ?BTW In America the "golf" model from VW is sold under the name of "Rabbit".
CAR BODY PART : The general rule for an horizontal dipole like the one you speak about, isto be erected the highest possible. The roof top of your car being about1.5m above ground, you may use the frame of your car to attach your dipole1.5m higher. The result must be very similar between this solution and theantenna posted above ground with the same pole or tripod.It used to be, but VW changed the name here to "golf" several years ago.I have learned something tonight. Probably Golf is more class than Rabbit.Sorry for the mistake.Ok also to use the ground in place of my car. It will be easier for me toplace the dipole at ground level, may be on top of a longer mast (3m high)to reach "higher" heights when working in the field.
