That is the ragged edge of streetable power with anaturally aspirated small block 383 or 400. It will also be a veryfun car. Before the blower, that was what the Cutlass was makingwithout the nitrous. To go beyond that will requre you to startmaking compromises you won't like in a "fun" car. It will be harderto start , idle poorly and athigher rpm, have little vacuum to run the brakes, load up and foulplugs, and have generally poor road manners at lower rpm. Thoseproblems will show up in exactly the things you've said you want to dowith the car. Also, when you do stomp the gas, you'll blow out blacksmoke as the engine "clears out," which is definately not a good wayto look cool. The cost will also be significantly lower in initial parts, andin maintainance. And you will spend a lot of time fussing with a600hp car whether you want the car at its absolute peak or not. 450hpwill give you more than enough power for a fun car and far fewerheadaches.

In the nextround against Gary Densham, Johnson said the car started like it was goingto run well, only to shake the tires and go into tire smoke.
