BMW CAR SPARES : Yet another reason why BMW is far ahead of anything VW/Audi is doing. Don't believe the Audi hype. They're really not that special. BMW isall that and more....Even with such "low tech" details as realizingthe fraud that doughnut spare tires represent to the average consumer.Think how many more "unseen" refinements that BMW packs into theircars, and Audi/Honda/Toyota/GM/Chrysler leaves out. The possibilitiesare endless...You must be scraping the bottom of the barrel in coming up with this example of how BMW is allegedly better than Audior any other maker.Audi hype? As far as my personal experience is concerned, I see more BMW ads in magazines than Audi ones. Don't knowabout TV.Donut spares, I believe, are market specific. Some countriesget full sizes and some, get donuts from the same maker.

Leave that to Audi.Remember who was laughed at when four wheel drive technology was introducedto the rally world followed by passenger cars. At a recent drive demo I witnessed a Jaguar sedan, a BMW 740i and an Audi A8 driven through a sharp curve entering at 85km/hr on a wet surface andthen lifted off to trailing throttle.Results: Jag: 3/4 way round the curve spun out in oversteer BMW: 1/2 way round the curve spun out in oversteer Audi:all way round curve with no loss of adhesion
BMW CAR SPARES : All vehicles driven by very competent drivers with years of rallyexperience.OK, I have thought about it. The battery's back there too....Thesecars feature almost perfect balance. I wonder why. Take your spareout, and you've spoiled the equillibrium. Hardly an item along for theride and/or a once in a 12year occurance.BTW, if your spare was flat, you probably didn't have your Bimmerserviced properly (yeah, they check the spare).I don't intend to pay $70/hr for some grease monkey to check the spare.Hmm, how come? Compact spares are far easier for women to change.Why not? Audi Quattros are known to travel to areas, few BMW drivers except maybe the 325ix ones would go.Wrong. They aren't the same alloy wheel. Some have steel wheels spares.

BMW is one of my favorite manufacturers, but I don't regard other fine German manufacturers as "lesser," for the hair-brained logic you display.Ok, Mr. BMW-fanatic, let's see you solve this problem in a BMW:Imagine you're driving the wonderful Z3 convertible, with your lovely SO. Suddenly, you get a flat on one of those 16 inch Alloy star-fish wheels. Muttering, a few curses, you remove the compact spare from...or put the 16" flat in the SO's lap. Which, I'll admit, will not be apopular solution with the SO.Hey, there's another way, and it won't get you in trouble with theSO either. ...kinda stupid though.
