BMW CAR PARTS : Washington DC July 18th 2002 - The SPEED World Challenge Touring Seriesis the Nation's capital this weekend to take part in the CadillacNational Grand Prix. The event is being held at RFK Stadium July 19-21along with the American LeMans Series and the Trans-Am for BF GoodrichTires Cup Series. The World Challenge Touring Series race will air onSPEED, Sunday, August 4 at 4pm EST.For a team that prides itself on preparation, coming to a new trackalways presents a thrilling set of challenges. With no notes from aprevious event to work from, the car chiefs can only wait to get thefirst practice on their belt and await driver feedback.Forty Touring cars took to the track for the first practice session andthe first look at this temporary road course. The drivers were greetedby fresh black asphalt lined with fresh concrete walls and 14' highsafety fences. It is an intimidating site, to say the least.
BMW CAR PARTS : With temperatures into the 90's, brakes, tires and patience are at apremium. Will Turner wasted no time moving his #92 Turner Motorsport /H&R Springs BMW 325i to the front of the leader board. Graduallybringing the car up to speed, Will finished his session in the numbertwo spot with a time of 1.28.392. Teammates, Bobby Sak [#93 TurnerMotorsport / H&R Springs BMW 325i] and Frank Selldorff [#94 TurnerMotorsport / H&R Springs BMW 325i] came out of the session lookingfor a little more speed.In the second round things improved immensely for Sak [#93] andSelldorff [#94]. Selldorff was able to come up to speed and finish theday sitting 10th with a time of 128.107. Sak moved into the 12th spotwith a time of 128.129. Will Turner's session saw an improved time of127.468. However, the field was beginning to sort the track out andWill's time was only good enough for the third spot on leader board.
