AUTO SPARES UK : This posting is a small 'shot across the bow' for a used Auto Spares companyin S Yorkshire, vicinity of A1(M) JCT37 and M18 JCT4.I was looking for a used but good 1.7 16v engine for my Alfa 33 - theycalled me with 'a good one, 48k miles from a 1993 car' delivered and with 3months warranty. Duly my credit card came out of my wallet and it wasdelivered to my home.Well, it was actually a 1990 engine (in the casting that they'd tried tohammer the '0' from) and apart from the rusty valves, when I'd fitted it Itopped all the levels up and, yes, the coolant actually poured from the crapcylinder head gasket.After writing letters and making numerous phone calls, this company won'tmake any committment to a refund and collecting the engine. Any 'possibledates' for collection of the engine have passed. Still I have an enginethat isn't fit for purpose or as described.

Let them do all the work - they *should* refund you the monies and chase the seller.So, do you work for them or have you had good/bad dealings with them then?Had dealings with them found them very average, and a little expensive, butthey had the bit i wanted, and it was in good nice, just needed cleaningThe credit card company may be able to assist you. In any case They shouldbe honerable enough to make good the claim they made

If they providedcrap service, nothing changes that, so they cannot do you for slander. (takedigipics of problems...will always help in court)I've done the pictures already, but if it all goes badly pear shaped, I willsimply state my dealings with them - others can draw their on conclusionsfrom how I acted and how they acted with respect to the purchase of anengine that was mis-described and defective.As has been suggested, all you need to do is phone your credit card company.They will send you a form to complete, you'll get your money back.This is the important line "Duly my credit card came out of my wallet" - get onto your cedit card company.
